If you enjoy a big helping of magic with your mystery fiction, you can’t go wrong with Kirsten Weiss’s series featuring her paranormally skilled detective Riga Hayworth. Like many mystery fans, I’ve followed several detective series and discovered that they often fall apart by book three or four. But Kirsten Weiss cleverly switches out both the location and the type of magic so that each book has a new flavor. I particularly enjoyed “The Hoo Doo Detective” and its New Orleans setting.
